It’s time to order plants for Winter
The nursery staff and volunteers are busy collecting seed and propagating plants for orders to be collected from April – September. The Arboretum Nursery grow plants to order and it’s now time to get your orders in.
This year, we have a brand new plant cagalogue linked from our order form. This new feature allows you to see and read about every plant grown at the Arboretum Nursery. It allows you to view the images and get an idea about size and the type of environment the plant is best suited to.
Simply download the order form and click the links to see each plant on our website. You can also see these directly on our website from the top Menu or search plant names from the search bar.
So many ways to now see potential plants for your gardens and properties!
One tip, save the order form to your computer first and open using Adobe Reader (this is a free bit of software). This way, you can fill out the form on your computer and send it back to us. If anyone has a problem, happy to assist.…
Drawing on Nature this Sunday

Join us at the Euroa Arboretum for this Nature in Art workshop with Kate Jevney this Sunday, 28th October. This 5 hr workshop is for beginner to intermediate levels to draw Australian birds in pencil or colour pencil.
The day will begin with a discussion of anatomy, techniques of layering and blending pencil to achieve an exciting and realistic drawing Reference images and high-quality paper will be supplied, you will need to supply pencils.
Lunch and morning tea are provided.
A bit about Kate:
Kate is a professional artist working in the media of oil, graphite and coloured pencil with nature as her inspiration, mainly wildlife and horses. She is a signature member of Artists for Conservation and Society of Animal Artists, a member of AGRA, Australian Colour Pencil Society and Pencil Art Society. Kate was guest artist on the TV show ‘Colour in your Life’ and her work has been featured in ‘The Australian Horseman Magazine’. She exhibits her work nationally and internationally and has been part of some esteemed art shows including ‘Western Visions’ at the National Museum of Wildlife Art (USA) and ‘Arts for the Parks’, winning the Grand Teton Lodge Award. Kate participated in the Artist-in-Residence program with National Museum of Wildlife Art (USA). As part of her art and educational program, Kate manages her blog where tips and questions can be exchanged and you can see some work-in-progress and new art straight off the easel.

Pick My Project is a Victorian-first community grants initiative, with at least $1 million in funding available. Our project at the Arboretum has been shortlisted. Voting has opened and it’s time for you to have your say and help us to get funding ! Enter your postcode, browse through the different projects in our area, and choose three of your favourites. You can only vote for us if you live in a 50km radius but we hope you will take the time to vote. It doesn’t take too long to signup and pick three projects. If you don’t have a mobile number, there’s a way and the instructions are clear.

People’s Pavilion – Euroa – “our connection to nature”
Transformation of the Arboretum picnic shelter into a multi-purpose pavilion
The transformation of this existing public asset, constructed on a low budget in 1994 as a community education shelter, will provide a versatile and inspiring nature precinct. The current pole-construction layout limits its use as an educational and recreational space. Enclosing the southern end to create an all-weather auditorium and repurposing the northern structure into a child-friendly adventure resource will create a new and dynamic multi-purpose pavilion.
The redevelopment will create a space for diverse environmental presentations and private gatherings for up to 200 people. It will be powered sustainably and become a welcoming hub for community and visitors alike.
Following the gifting of land by VicRoads in 1991, the Arboretum has been a volunteer-driven community enterprise. Land restoration and education programmes at the 27 hectare site have lifted the profile, but the picnic shelter offers inadequate protection from the elements. Dated design and materials limit its potential for wider use, including multi-media presentations, conferences and school excursions.
The bold yet functional design will pay tribute to past and present scholars and volunteers and celebrate their legacy. A fresh focus and dynamic build will connect a new generation of students, parents and travellers to nature and our extraordinary environmental heritage.
